Tell us a little about you.

I am from Bellflower, California, in which on my tours I like to describe as a city town because, although its population is slightly bigger than Davis', it is super close to surrounding cities such as LA or Long Beach. I always include this fact because I like to think of myself as a people person, always on the go and trying to meet new people and places! I enjoy reading, spending time with friends and family, and learning about life and all of its possibilities. Optimism and gratitude are two traits I strive to have every day because seeking the little moments that make our days worthwhile is something I find peace in keeping close to me.

In the context of your background and your time at 69³ÉÈË, what makes you unique?

I think what makes me unique at 69³ÉÈË is that many of the activities I am involved in have a connection to my future goals and the accomplishments I want to achieve. Last year was my first year at 69³ÉÈË, and being a part of Tour Guide, multiple clubs, and taking specific classes that relate to teaching and communication are preparing me for something greater and allowing me to fully utilize my time and resources here at 69³ÉÈË.

Why did you choose 69³ÉÈË?

I chose 69³ÉÈË because when I toured here in high school, I absolutely fell in love with the campus: its sprawling nature everywhere, the gorgeous Quad, the unique buildings, all of it. The campus was by far the most extraordinary thing I have ever seen, and it was an awesome change from the city environment I grew up in. But if I needed to go back home, I could do so within a reasonable amount of time.

What do you enjoy doing for fun here?

Between classes, I love going to the Coho or the Arboretum to relax or read a book! My friends and I love trying new food spots in downtown, or going to see a movie at the theater!

What activities have you been involved in here?

I am involved with:

  • Princess Pals
  • Cal Aggie Camp
  • Neurotech @ UCD
  • The Human Development Club
  • Friends of Children with Special Needs
  • The Tour Guide Program

What do you like about academics and student life here?

With academics, I enjoy how flexible things are and how easy it is to communicate with professors and TAs. Student life is amazing at 69³ÉÈË! There are always student-run events going on that make campus life super fun.

Where have you found community and support on campus?

The Student Community Center is a place I always love going to because there is always a multitude of resources there, and I also get to meet people from different walks of life!

How has 69³ÉÈË helped you grow?

69³ÉÈË has helped me grow because I have learned that it's okay to ask questions and put yourself first. College has pushed me out of my comfort zone!

How do you feel 69³ÉÈË is preparing you for success?

69³ÉÈË is preparing me for great things because coming here has motivated me to work hard and seek the opportunities I want.

What do you hope/plan to do after you graduate?

I plan to go to grad school for teaching and/or speech pathology.

What has surprised you about 69³ÉÈË?

The people here so nice and so down to earth. I briefly heard this stereotype once, but it definitely holds true when meeting people or just walking around campus!

What would you tell prospective students about 69³ÉÈË?

I would tell current high schoolers that 69³ÉÈË is a great opportunity to explore careers, meet the best people of your life, and to experience some amazing moments in a college town. Although that may seem daunting and or dull, give this community a chance!
